- Attributes associated with the glamping concept. An empirical studyPublication . Liberato, Pedro; Coelho, José; Liberato, DáliaCamping needs a strategic shift based on innovation and that competes with the current campsites. Glamping emerges as an innovative concept, capable of combining the advantages of cam- ping, making up for the negative issues traditionally associated with it. This topic is justi ed by the growing trend around the world, which may serve to withdraw camping from the stagnation stage where it is. The present study aims to ll a signi cant lack of scienti c material about glamping in Portugal and to identify the importance given to the attributes that de ne this concept: Nature; Accommodation; Gastronomy; and Experience. Focusing on the campsites in Porto's Metropolitan Area, data was collec- ted through an original questionnaire, obtaining a convenient sample of 201 campers. A one-dimensional structure was assumed in the attributes: Nature, Gastronomy and Service and a two-dimensional struc- ture of the attributes: Accommodation and Experience. Regarding the analysed attributes, the one which collected the highest value of importance was the one related to the questions about "Nature", followed by the attributes "Service"and "Accommodation_Amenities". This nding con rms the basis of the concept of glamping. The pro le of the user of this concept was suggested through descriptive analysis. The hypotheses have shown that, among the campers, there are no signi cant di erences between the level of experimentation and gender, which is not true for age and literacy. It was also concluded that the importance attributed to the service increases according to the amount willing to pay by the camper, per night in a glamping unit.

- A bibliometric overview of economic sustainability in tourismPublication . Meneses, Daniela; Costa, Carlos; Ferreira, Fernanda A.; Eusébio, CelesteMultiple research areas have addressed tourism studies, with a recent emphasis on sustainable tourism and the balance between its three dimensions: economic, social, and environmental. We propose an understanding of the significance of economic sustainability in tourism analysis while conducting an extensive bibliometric analysis and critical evaluation of the current literature. Data for this study were extracted from Scopus, a widely recognised database for scholarly research. Specific search terms, including “economic sustainability,” “tourism,” “sustainable tourism,” “economy,” “economic indicators,” and “tourism policy,” were used to gather relevant publications. A total of 1716 documents were initially retrieved. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to ensure the selection of pertinent literature, resulting in 491 publications being retained for further analysis. These publications originated from 234 different sources and involved 1173 authors. The results of the bibliometric analysis reveal promising future research themes, such as sustainable tourism, tourism policy, economic indicators, tourism sustainability, and entrepreneurship. Moreover, identifying the most influential authors and publications offers valuable guidance for future research endeavours.
- Conscious tourism’s dimension in the historical villages of PortugalPublication . Liberato, Pedro; Cerqueira, Isabel; Liberato, DáliaRecent growth in the tourism sector has promoted the emergence of alternative types of tourism, such as rural tourism. Located in low-density territories, the Historical Villages of Portugal are one of the best examples regarding regional development from the perspective of sustainability. Although it is such an important topic today and gives longevity to destinations, its approach from the conscious tourism perspective is still little valued. This article discusses tourists’ characteristics seeking Historical Villages, their behaviour, as well as their awareness and perception of the possible impacts they may cause. Intends to understand the perspective of the tourist experience in the Historical Villages region, and to ascertain the existence of conscious behaviours in rural destinations. Surveys were applied to 453 tourists of the Historical Villages. The main results obtained show that the sociodemographic profile influences the application of conscious practices, and the conscious tourist’s attitude will contribute to the overall satisfaction concerning the destination. Also, the better the tourist's relationship with the destination and his overall satisfaction, the more likely he is to implement conscious practices. The results obtained should be evaluated by the regional DMOs with a view to implementing and developing conscious practices at these destinations.

- Digital communication and the crisis management in hotel management: a perspective in the Euroregion North of Portugal and Galicia (ERNPG)Publication . Cardoso, Diana; Sousa, Bruno; Liberato, Dália; Liberato, Pedro; Lopes, Eunice; Gonçalves, Francisco; Figueira, VictorThe current unprecedented globalization of the social economy, with worldwide mobility of people, products and services in an increasingly connected market and society, has promoted the rapid geographic spread of the coronavirus (i.e., crisis management) outbreak, negatively affecting tourists’ behavior and their well-being, whether due to restrictions imposed by governments on international travel, or due to tourists’ fear of catching the disease. This manuscript aims to understand how digital communication has helped the tourism industry in general and the hotel context in particular to face the negative consequences caused by the new coronavirus pandemic. The development of the research followed a qualitative methodological approach, constituting an exploratory study, based on four semi-structured interviews with managers of hotel establishments, located in the Northern Region of Portugal and Galicia. As main conclusions, it is possible to highlight that digital communication and the use of social networks were fundamental tools for hotel establishments during the pandemic caused by COVID-19, especially during the confinement period, when establishments had to close, many of them completely. There were many changes brought about in the tourism industry in the Euroregion of Northern Portugal and Galicia (ERNPG), with an increase in domestic tourism, a decrease in the external market and a change in tourist profile and behavior, whether due to sanitary and public health issues that induced fear of travel, or by the measures imposed by the government that prevented such trips. According to the strategies implemented by the hotel establishments, the intensification of digital communication use and social networks stands out, since, for a long time, it consisted of the only connecting tool between the hotel and its customers and the initiatives of the Regional Entities and Turismo de Portugal (regional and national DMOs), through numerous training courses in the area of digital marketing and the implementation of hygiene, sustainable and safety measures in hotel establishments. Regarding the future of tourism, it is expected that it will recover in the coming years and approach the historical values of previous years, given the advance in vaccination against the disease and the tourist’s desire to travel. In the short term, strategies are expected from hotel establishments that include valuing the destination on digital marketing platforms through attracting qualified human resources and a commitment towards tourism sustainability.
