- A Contribution for Generalization of Scheduling Problem ClassesPublication . Putnik, Goran; Alves, Cátia; Varela, Leonilde; Ávila, PauloIt is identified that different scheduling problem classes are just special cases of one “general scheduling problem” that is that a number of traditional scheduling problem classes (for the case of 64 classes obtained by combination of 6 parameters) could be reduced to the scheduling problem for a set of lots, with one part per lot. “General scheduling problem” definition helps to minimize the simulator’s size/complexity concerning modeling and evaluation of three scheduling paradigms. Further, for scheduling problems different notations were developed to represent different scheduling problems classes. In this paper we introduced a new field into the Graham´s notation, named “sub-problem solution classes”, considering that the general solution (objective) is integrated over solutions for sub-problems.
- A contribution to clarification of definitions and relationship between processes, operations, process plans, jobs, tasks and ordersPublication . Putnik, Goran; Alves, Cátia; Ávila, PauloThe terminology and semantics concerning process plans, operations, orders, jobs and tasks are unfortunately not used in a canonical way, and many times there is misunderstandings, confusion or even ignorance of the relationships between the terms, among the practitioners and students. This paper contributes to clarification of basic canonical definitions and relationship between processes, operations, process plans, jobs, tasks and orders. The paper presents the concepts of “Process Plan”, job, task, orders and their relationship. It is suggested that adoption of canonical forms of these concepts, definitions and relationships will facilitate implementation of advanced methodologies and technologies and techniques and integration with other systems and partners (networking).
- Fixed horizon scheduling as an elementary building block for the fixed horizon with reconfigurations, rolling horizon and real time management production scheduling paradigmsPublication . Putnik, Goran; Alves, Cátia; Ávila, Paulo; Ferreira, Luís; Lopes, Nuno; Shah, VaibhavIn this paper we present Fixed Horizon Scheduling as an elementary building block for the Fixed Horizon with Reconfiguration, Rolling Horizon and Real Time Management production scheduling paradigms. An outline of the Fixed Horizon Scheduling as an elementary building block is presented. Also, the outline for the algorithms structure for the three scheduling paradigms based on Fixed Horizon as elementary building block are presented.
- A Framework for Simulator Development for Fixed Horizon, Rolling Horizon and Real Time Management Modelling and EvaluationPublication . Putnik, Goran; Alves, Cátia; Ávila, Paulo; Ferreira, Luís; Castro, Helio; Shah, VaibhavThis paper presents a framework for simulator development for fixed horizon, rolling horizon and real time management models for their modelling and evaluation in ubiquitous production networks under conditions of dynamic environments for economic and environmental sustainability.
- Hybrid governance system value perception modelPublication . Marchisotti, Gustavo; Filho, Jose Rodrigues; Franca, Sergio; Toledo, Roberto; Castro, Helio; Alves, Cátia; Putnik, GoranThis paper aims to analyze the negative perception about the ability to generate value from a Governance System (GS). A model that would explain the reason for the less positive perception regarding the ability to generate value from the GS of the organizations, from the analysis of the relationship between the constructs Hybridism, GS, Accountability and Perception of Value based on IR, was proposed and validated with structural equation modeling (SEM), based on 658 responses from professionals of Brazilian organizations from the public, private and non-profit sectors. It is suggested that conflicts related to organizational hybridism negatively influence the results orientation of the GS, which in turn influences the imbalance of its Accountability. As a result of the GS's loss of results orientation, and considering the IR capitals in the disclosure of results, there is a negative perception of the GS's ability to add value to the results.
- Real Time Management in Manufacturing Systems: A State-of-the-art Review - Terminology, Definitions, and Application AreasPublication . Putnik, Goran; Alves, Cátia; Ávila, PauloThe paper presents an introduction to the real time management considering the meta‐theoretical framework for the real time management discipline investigation, the terminology and definitions, and application areas through the state of the art review. The paper presents also some directions for the future work.
- The social representation of the governance system through key descriptors: mute zone?Publication . Marchisotti, Gustavo; Filho, Jose; Franca, Sergio; Domingos, Maria; Junior, Vicente; Toledo, Roberto; Toledo, Roberto; Alves, Cátia; Castro, Helio; Putnik, GoranThis article seeks to describe the social representations of Brazilians about the term Governance System (GS). The data were collected through online questionnaires answered by 665 social actors from Brazil. The data analysis used the Social Representation Theory (SRT), operationalized by the techniques of free evocation of words and the Four Houses Framework of Verges, followed by lexical and content analysis. It was identified that in the center of the table there are words highly shared by the social actors about the Governance System: Accountability, Administration, Compliance, Control, Management, Organization, Planning, Processes, Transparency, and Ethics. It is concluded that Accountability is conceived as a structuring element for the effectiveness of the GS. The data suggest the existence of a mute zone in the social representation, since there was a scarcity of words that brought negative expressions about the GS and that deserve future investigations.
