- Competitiveness of the Medical Tourism Supply in PortugalPublication . Santos, Eleonora; Moreira, Jacinta; Castanho, Rui Alexandre; Carvalho, Milena; Martins, SusanaSince 2008, Government and private hospitals, recognizing the growth potential of specialization in certain medical procedures, started to promote Portugal as a medical tourism destination. As a result, the country is internationally recognized in areas such as oncology, neuroscience, immunology, nanomedicine, and regenerative medicine, and as having an internationally accredited modern healthcare network based on innovation in therapeutic processes and products, qualified professionals, and state-of-the-art equipment. However, previous literature suggests that the lack of cooperation between the stakeholders are major obstacles to international performance. Moreover, the pandemic has caused restrictions to international travels, contributing to the decrease of demand for Medical Tourism, Thus, this paper analyses the evolution of the competitiveness of the medical tourism supply during the pandemic. Using an unbalanced panel of 157 private hospitals, collected from SABI for 2011-2020, we calculated 4 performance indicators: Market Share, Return on Investment, Productivity and Talent Retention. Results point to the possession of key factors to ensure the success and development of a consolidated supply of Medical Tourism. The paper makes recommendations on the strategies to increase competitiveness of medical tourism supply.
- Creation of a Mobile App Prototype for Internationalization of Rūta’s ProductsPublication . Pacheco, Inês; Pocevičienė, Rasa; Carvalho, Milena; Martins, Susana; Castro, Maria JoãoThis project was developed as part of an international cooperation program between Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences (Lithuania) and the Higher Institute of Accounting and Administration (Portugal), which results in a double degree agreement for the bachelor’s degree students in Information Management (Lithuania) and bachelor degree students in Science and Technologies of Documentation and Information (Portugal). Nowadays almost everyone has access to the internet and a mobile phone, so companies are adopting different ways to attract customers. Not only the use of applications and social media have grown but also sales applications. Due to the pandemic many companies started using other ways to communicate with their customers and in the case of the Rūta’s Chocolate Museum, with its visitors. The close relationship between the Information Society, Information Science and Heritage, regardless of its´ nature, is explored and explained and as a continuation it is assumed that information professionals currently have diversified skills that allow them to work in contexts different from the so-called traditional ones, such as libraries and archives. The methodology was based on scientific literature review and on the identification and analysis of different variables that would influence its development, namely: a) identify and analyze what already exists about the museum on the web (website, social networks); b) know the visitors information needs; c) know the museum strategy for marketing; d) create an app prototype; e) create content for the app.comparison between app creation platforms was developed but the main criteria at this point was free of charge use as well as hierarchical content display. The content creation had in mind the goal of the company, mainly to promote the museum's activities and Rüta products by reaching potential customers all over the world, so the use of English was very important, but also what interests the users of the Rüta social networks showed. The app prototype is presented, and as mentioned before, the use of mobile applications as grown through the last years due to the growth of mobile phones users and companies making a huge investment in said mobile apps as it helps with the diffusion of their services making them more easily accessed by the costumers. This impacts not only financially but also in the way information society evolves as more and more information is created by minute. The change in information society is noticeable not only in the way it alters the information cycle (production, selection, use and storage) but also the professionals and the skills required so the information is useful and attends to what is needed. The educational implications of the project relate to the performance of the information professional in non-traditional areas, but in areas where the valorization of the informational heritage of companies, can give way to initiatives that will have positive impacts in activity and business. This requires graduates to use, in an integrated way, the specialized skills seized over the three years of the study cycle, but also put other transversal skills in practice, such as reasoning and problem solving. Within the scope of the project, it is considered that self-regulation and the search for solutions to problems presuppose environmental manipulations that ultimately originate behaviors that tend to increase the probability of achieving the educational goal.

- Digital Transformation: Book of Abstracts at BOBCATSSS 2021 Virtual Conference, 21st-22nd January 2021, PortoPublication . Terra, Ana Lúcia; Carvalho, Milena; Todorova, Tania; Rodríguez López, María CarmenThis Book of Abstracts provides an overview of all selected papers, Pecha Kucha and posters that will be presented at BOBCATSSS 2021 Virtual Conference on "Digital Transformation" (https://bobcatsss2021.sciencesconf.org/). The conference is jointly organized by the Porto Accounting and Business School - Porto Polytechnic (ISCAP), Portugal, University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT), Sofia, Bulgaria and University of Leon, Spain. BOBCATSSS is an international annual symposium which addresses hot topics for librarians and information professionals in a fast-changing environment. It is created by and for students, teachers, researchers and professionals in the information field. BOBCATSSS is held under the auspices of BOBCATSSS Association (https://bobcatsss.info/, former EUCLID (European Association for Library and Information Education and Research). It is a tradition which has been passed on from one European country to another since 1993, providing a rich professional conference, accompanied by numerous opportunities for networking, personal exchanges, discussions, and learning. The 29th conference of BOBCATSSS is a virtual edition, due to the COVID-19 worldwide crisis. This year, we have chosen “DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION” as the theme for BOBCATSSS 2021. Information and communication technologies have a great impact on society, namely concerning the immediacy of access to information, the constant increase in the available information volume, the automation of services, the dematerialization of processes, the change in supports and formats, the attention to the client and changes in the behaviour of individuals. These impacts are also felt in the way people interact with information, in professional, academic, personal and playful terms. Soon, half of the consumers will be digital natives, and this will force the digital transformation in organizations, creating new opportunities for change, including in organizational, cultural and legal standards. Digital transformation as an effect of a process marked by the influence of ICT in society will influence changes in every social dimension, including business models and in the way they develop, with ICT and, inseparably, information, having a leading role in any organization. According to Rogers (2016)1 and Herbert (2017)2, it is possible to identify five domains where the digital transformation takes place, and which are based on the transversal use of ICT: 1. Customers, who interact dynamically with organizations 2. Competition, which impliesa differentiation of organizations in relation to the consumer / final customer 3. Information, which due to its essential nature for the business, whether structured or not, will require an increasingly strict management 4. Innovation, focusing on the development of new ideas 5. Value, which becomes volatile in the face of market demand.

- Information Science, Museology, and the Management of the ISEP Museum Collection—Theoretical Framework of the Information professional's PerformancePublication . Neves, Catarina; Carvalho, Milena; Martins, Susana; Castro, Maria JoãoThis present work’s main objective is the identification, by the informational professional, of a tool for managing the ISEP museum collection. This work arises because the current tool does not meet the museum's holistic needs and is not interoperable, and it was developed in the framework of a curricular internship for the degree in Sciences and Technologies of Documentation and Information at ISCAP-P.Porto. It highlights the close connection between Information Science and Museology and emphasizes the role of the museological object as a source of information, underlining the extreme importance of its management since the Museum is also an information system. The standardization of metadata associated with museum objects was also addressed, and how it promotes the exchange of information and the fulfillment of the mission of cultural institutions. The work encompassed the development of an organic-functional analysis of the museum as well as a comparative analysis of four management tools for museum collections that met the information needs of that museum as well as the application of the adapted criteria defined by ISO / IEC 25010: 2011 for the evaluation software quality standards. After evaluation, it was determined that the most appropriate tool would be open access software called Collective Access, which works simultaneously as a collection management and creation of a website for publishing collections, operating as a virtual museum.
- Is There an Economic Bias in Academic Success?Publication . Santos, Eleonora; Carvalho, Milena; Martins, SusanaThis paper analyses whether schools with better scores in National Exams are in regions NUTs III with greater purchasing power. Accordingly, we analyse the evolution of the ranking of schools considering the purchasing power of the regions where they are located. Using data collected in the media, related to school rankings by region for 2008 and 2014; and in Pordata database for regional purchasing power in 2007 and 2011; we calculate location and specialization measures and perform a regional shift-share analysis. The results show that schools located in regions with very high and high purchasing powers rank first; and both structural and regional changes are positive. A notable exception is the region of Alto Alentejo with a medium purchasing power. In contrast, regions with low purchasing power show negative structural and regional changes. These results indicate that, with an exception, the gap between regions of low and high purchasing powers has been perpetuated.
