Abstract(s)
The present study is a case study and intends to explore the perspective of individuals in the face of events and experiences in their lives: the perspective of hearing children of deaf parents regarding their social, family and educational development. In this qualitative investigation, 14 individuals from deaf parents participate, using the survey to collect sociodemographic information about them and the semi-structured interview to gauge their perspective. The results reveal that, in general, being children of deaf parents did not have a negative impact on the family, social and educational development of the participants, perceiving that they maintain relations of close proximity and complicity with the parents. Participants often assume the role of interpreters from their parents to deal with personal and professional matters, which shows the lack of interpreters in public services such as school, finance, health center, hospital and social security.
