Abstract(s)
This report was developed as part of the Supervised Teaching Practice of the Master’s Degree in Music Education Teaching in Basic. It is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, there will be a description of the lessons observed in the 2nd Cycle of Basic Education, across different institutions, where I will focus on the most important knowledge I gained from the observations. In the second chapter, I will characterise the class I worked with, as well as the school where I conducted my teaching practice. This chapter will focus on approaches and activities that I chose to do with students and on a reflection of the choices taken and their results. Additionally, I will reflect on the difficulties I felt and what skills I gained from this experience. The third chapter is entirely dedicated to my research project, called “Regionalisation of the Musical Education Curriculum in the 2nd Cycle of Basic Education, in Madeira Island”. It intends to expose that aspect of Musical Education lessons in Madeira Island, by documenting its process of conception and implementation, from its starting point until today, as well as its advantages and disadvantages. The methods used were documentary analysis, indirect observation of lessons (audio-visual recordings of lessons provided by a 2nd Cycle of Basic Education school in the Autonomous Region of Madeira) and the analysis of interviews. It was concluded that the regionalisation has been evolving in several ways as time goes on, but since it is not mandatory, not all schools choose to add it to their curriculum. Furthermore, there are future challenges related to the evolution of this project, which will also be presented and discussed.
