Resumo(s)

Cellular senescence is defined as part of the aging process that can be found throughout the life cycle and, i tis linked to age-related chronic pathologies like diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Osteoporosis, Cancer and many others. For several years, cellular senescence has been portrayed as detrimental, shadowing any potential benefits of senescence. It is of extreme importance to understand what changes happen in the cells during senescence. It is of extreme importance to understand what changes happen in the cells during senescence and grasp their role in aging to fully understand its role in adaptation and damage features. The goal of this study was to conduct a review of the state of the art in cellular senescence, types, main charateristics and its role in health and disease. Using the PRISMA methodology, a query with specified keywords was used. Fourteen studies were analyzed. It is importante to highlight that the use of fibroblasts as a suitable model to develop studies, the role of BAFF signaling as a future reference in senotherapy studies and probe XZ1208 as a new method of identification of senescente cells.
