- Projecting an image: TV series Amor Amor and Lua de Mel and the impacts of film-induced tourism in PenafielPublication . Ferreira, Ana; Lopes, Maria Carlos; Alén, ElisaThe image of a touristic destination is a complex construction based on different sources of information. Among them we can highlight the films and television series as they are an excellent tool for promoting tourism for the territories where they are filmed. The appearance of a particular area in a film or television series can have a huge effect on the number of visitors of an already existing place and create a new kind of tourism to the area and generate a boost for the local economy. The main objective of this article is to analyze the impact of the soap opera “Amor, Amor” and “Lua de Mel” that was broadcast at prime time in a Portuguese television channel, in the image of the city of Penafiel as a touristic destination. We intend to assess the short-term impacts of the great media exposure felt by the general population and, in particular, by the various stakeholders, on the influx of domestic tourists to this city; and the way this influx of tourists is being fostered in order to generate medium- and long-term revenue turning the small town of Penafiel into a tourist hotspot. We have done some literature review as well as an exploratory and quantitative investigation. The data collection was carried out with a questionnaire designed to be answered online by the inhabitants of Penafiel. The results of the analysis highlight the importance of films and series as important sources of information giving visibility to destinations that are still little known or not at all.

- Literary routes as a successful tourist offer in PortoPublication . Ferreira, Ana; Alén, Elisa; Liberato, PedroNowadays tourist aspires to something differentiated, personalized, focused on quality, culture, and the environment. As this tourist is a more demanding one, it is crucial to provide an innovative offer bearing in mind that this type of tourist aspires to something more specific. This is exactly the case of literary tourists. By using a literary text to invite people to visit a city, which we may call "literary invitation", we intend to provide some real and material knowledge about the city, often in the form of a route to be travelled. Tourist itineraries immerse visitors in the plot of a narrative or in the historical era it refers to and therefore, enhances the experience of a cultural visit assuming an important political and economic significance in today’s tourism destinations. Besides enhancing cultural exchange and cross-border relations, tourists mobilize large economic resources that can promote the socio-economic development of the territories. This paper intends to present an analysis of the motivational attributes of literary routes in the perception of the tourist destination Porto based on information obtained from a sample of 272 tourists/visitors in the city during the summer of 2020. The analysis of the results allows us to state that they represent a reliable basis for tourist agents interested in reevaluating the essence of tourist activity in the city, in the context of literary resources and attractions, and these motivational factors may be incorporated into marketing strategies.

- Literary tourism: the new challenges facing the certified tourist guidePublication . Ferreira, Ana; Villares, MartaTourist Guides are one of the key players in the Travel Industry. Through their cultural knowledge and communication and relational skills, they can elevate tourists’ visits to a level of experience and knowledge. Literary tourism is a growing trend in tourism activity that demands new skills from the Tourist Guides. They are asked to be cultural facilitators/mediators and interpreters of the work and of the tourist site, contributing to the tourist experience, giving importance to the writer, his legacy, and the host community. In this way we consider that it is also in this type of tourism that the challenges faced by the tourist guide are felt. Based on these assumptions, this study aims to present the perception of the tourist guide on the impacts of literary tourism in their activity, namely identifying the needs for training and adaptation of the tourist guide to meet the needs of this product and contribute to the enhancement and promotion of literary heritage. - Turismo criativo e sustentabilidade territorialPublication .
- Social media as a digital brand tool to promote a tourism destinationPublication . Silva, Cândida; Silva, Susana; Ferreira, AnaIn the current tourist scene, places and especially destinations compete against each other in an increasingly globalised market. In order to successfully compete, destinations work on developing a strong brand identity through effective positioning and the digitalisation has caused the business ecosystem to change the way businesses compete in the marketplace as well as the way that tourism services are perceived, consumed and accessed. There are different approaches in the literature of destination branding as is highlighted among others, in the work of Saraniemi (2011), who states that we can think about the concept of destination brand in several ways. Furthermore, it should be noted that the identity of a destination is determined by the interactions between stakeholders and consumers which also allows this author to add that “destinations should be viewed as an evolving brand process and not a fixed and completed identity” (Saraniemi, 2011, p. 253). The growing possession of indispensable technological devices among tourists has increased their access to e-marketing channels. The way tourists search and purchase tourism products and services are changing. Therefore, for destinations compete in today's marketplace, they need to have the most effective digital marketing tools to provides them a significant advantage. Based on this, the following section will discuss digital marketing tools that are affecting the tourism destinations. This study aimed to understand how social media is used to develop a digital brand and promote a tourism destination. More specifically, we aimed to characterize how digital marketing is used by municipalities as a strategy to promote a tourism destination; and how communication digital tools such Facebook and Instagram are used in the promotion of a tourism destination.
