- Fluorescence-based biosensor for SARS-CoV-2 detection and quantificationPublication . Duarte, Abel José Assunção; Gonçalves, Helena Maria Rodrigues; Lopes, Paula Filomena MartinsThe present disclosure relates to a method for detection of biomolecules comprising the steps of collecting a biological sample comprising an analyte at a concentration of at least 0.01 pM; exposing the collected sample to a temperature ranging from 70-100 °C; incubating the sample with Cdots previously incubated with the probe, therefore obtaining a solution; carefully homogenising the resulting solution; subjecting the solution to an excitation source for acquisition of fluorescence; determining the fluorescence shift between a negative control and the sample; wherein the Cdots are in a suspension state and the proportion of Cdots for analyte in the sample are in a ratio of at least 1:0.5; and wherein a shift of fluorescence from the negative control to the sample indicates the presence of the biomolecule. The present disclosure also relates to an apparatus for carrying out the process according to the present invention comprising a sensing unit (A), connected by an optical fiber (B) to a sample holder (C), and a LED (D) and a kit for detection of biomolecules, in particular for diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2.
PT115371 (A)
- Midfoot-equipped sole for arch support and plantar pressure redistributionPublication . Marques, Maria Arcelina; Ramos, Nuno Viriato Marques; Vaz, Mário Augusto Pires de; Flores, Andreia Manuela Crespo; Martins, Cátia Sofia Neves; Silva, Bruno Ricardo Barreto Guedes daThe invention stated herein concerns a solution for shoe soles which are adaptable to plantar arch morphology. The solution is essentially characterized by combining. Into a single sole. Arch support (4) internally as an integral component of the sole (2) and an insert (1) having a smaller young's modulus than that of the remaining sole (2) externally as an integral component of the sole and confined to the midfoot region (3). This combination of characteristics, which increases the contact area between the foot and the shoe, at the insert of the sole, provides for a more effective damping of plantar forces and leads to a more efficient solution regarding the redistribution and decrease of the maximum forces that act in the midfoot region.
- Multi-agent system for distributed manufacturing scheduling with genetic algorithms and tabu searchPublication . Madureira, AnaComputerized scheduling methods and computerized scheduling systems according to exemplary embodiments. A computerized scheduling method may be stored in a memory and executed on one or more processors. The method may include defining a main multi-machine scheduling problem as a plurality of single machine scheduling problems; independently solving the plurality of single machine scheduling problems thereby calculating a plurality of near optimal single machine scheduling problem solutions; integrating the plurality of near optimal single machine scheduling problem solutions into a main multi-machine scheduling problem solution; and outputting the main multi-machine scheduling problem solution.
- System and method for operating a follower vehicle in a vehicle platoonPublication . Li, Zhiwu; Karoui, Oussama; Koubaa, Anis; Khalgui, Mohamed; Guerfala, Emna; Tovar, Eduardo; Wu, NaiqiA method for operating a follower vehicle in a vehicle platoon includes determining, during operation, whether the follower vehicle is operating in a normal state or an abnormal state based on an operation condition of a component of the follower vehicle, or a communication between the follower vehicle and a preceding vehicle in the vehicle platoon. The method further includes selecting a first control mode if the follower vehicle is in the normal state and a second control mode if the follower vehicle is in the abnormal state so as to control movement of the follower vehicle using the selected control mode. In the first control mode, the follower vehicle uses communication data received from the preceding vehicle in the vehicle platoon to control its movement. In the second control mode, the follower vehicle uses data obtained by one or more of its sensors to control its movement.
