- Influence of physical condition in TGlittre performance in individuals with COPDPublication . Robalinho, L.; Santos, J.; Morais, L.; Abreu, P.; Mesquita Montes, António; Melo, CristinaChronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is amulti-systemic disease with repercussions on the functional status of the individual with COPD. In order to assess the functional capacity in individuals with COPD and in particular to measure the results of pulmonary rehabilitation programs, the six minutes walking test (6MWT) has been a widely used test, but the walk reflects only a life daily activity (ADL). For a more representative assessment of functional status, based on a set of activities similar to ADL’s, such as walking, sit-to-stand, up and down stairs and moving objects with their upper limbs, it was developed the AVD Glittre test (TGlittre). Research proves that the TGlittre is a valid and reliable tool for measuring functional status in patients with COPD, with a strong correlation with the distance in 6MWT. However, the correlation with other components of physical condition, as the dynamic balance and strength of upper and lower limbs, is not yet described.
- European Projects : Challenges and Needs to Be AddressedPublication . It presents the way we identify the challenges and needs to be addressed, the way we developed the analysis of the impact and the identification of possible actions and outcomes. We also present the way we tried to understand the general EU context, the analysis of specific sector. It includes Gantt chart, definition of the role/expertise of partners and establish the benefits for the other partners and also a geographical balance and strategies. In this poster we also include the timeline prepared and the quality assurance structure. This poster could be a way to help people who are think of developing an European project since it resumes and organizes some important data in a visual way. In the following sections and links you can learn more about the learning process across Europe.
- Energy Consumption Awareness for Resource-Constrained Devices: Extension to FPGAPublication . Silva, Edgar M.; Maló, Pedro; Albano, MicheleThe devices running embedded applications tend to be battery-powered, and the energy efficiency of their operations is an important enabler for the wide adoption of the Internet-of-Things. Optimization of energy usage depends on modelling power consumption. A model-based simulation must consider parameters that depend on the device used, the operating system, and the distributed application under study. A realistic simulation thus depends on knowledge regarding how and when devices consume energy. This paper presents an approach to direct measurement of energy consumed in the different execution states of the device. We present the architecture and the measurement process that were implemented. We provide a reference architecture, whose constituent parts can be implemented in different manners, e.g. the processing unit of the device can be the chip on a mote, or an Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) implementation. Details are given regarding the setup of the experimental tests, and a discussion of the results hints at which architecture is the best for each application under study. The presented methodology can be extended easily to new architectures and applications, to streamline the process of building realistic models of power consumption.
- Multidimensional Range Queries on Hierarchical Voronoi OverlaysPublication . Even if several solutions have been proposed in the last decade, most of them do not meet the requirements of recent platforms, like IoT or smart cities. The paper presents an approach that builds a multidimensional Voronoi graph by exploiting the attributes of the objects published by a node. Our solution overcomes the curse of dimensionality issue affecting Voronoi Tessellations in high dimensional spaces by defining a Voronoi hierarchy. The paper formally defines the structure, analysis the complexity of the operations and presents experimental results.
- A Cross-layer QoS Management Framework for ZigBee Cluster-Tree NetworksPublication . Severino, Ricardo; Ullah, Sana; Tovar, EduardoWireless sensor networks show great potential to successfully address the timeliness and energy-efficiency requirements of different cyber-physical system applications. Generally, these requirements span several layers of the stack and demand an on-line mechanism capable of efficiently tuning several parameters, in order to better support highly dynamic traffic characteristics. This work presents a cross-layer QoS management framework for ZigBee cluster-tree networks. The proposed framework carries out an on-line control of a set of parameters ranging from the MAC sub-layer to the network layer, improving the successful transmission probability and minimizing the memory requirements and queuing delays through an efficient bandwidth allocation at the network clusters. Through extensive simulations in a real datacenter monitoring application scenario, we show that the proposed framework improves the successful transmission probability by 10 %, and reduces the end-to-end delay by 94 %.

The intention of these discussions was to continue the useful traditions from the first conferences on Fractional Calculus (FC) topics, to pose open problems, challenging hypotheses and questions “where to go”, “how to save and improve the prestige of FC”, to share opinions and try to find ways to resolve them.
- "Estou aqui": estágio em forma de estudo de caso realizado nas aulas de teatro da APPACDM - MatosinhosPublication . Roque, Tânia Raquel Clemente; Passos, Sónia Maria da Costa; Oliveira, Cláudia Marisa Silva de; Costa, RosárioO presente estudo tem como objetivo principal apresentar uma metodologia/prática teatral resultante de um estudo de caso sob a forma de estágio na APPACDM-Matosinhos. Ao longo deste estudo é possível encontrar algumas conferências com a teoria partindo da ideia de Teatro Aplicado como exercício de pensar o teatro e as pessoas com deficiência mental. No contexto de trabalho a que se refere este estudo é ainda apresentada uma análise descritiva com caracterização da instituição, das sessões de Teatro, dos grupos e do projeto de estágio, acompanhada da minha reflexão pessoal que se inicia com as sessões de teatro na instituição até à apresentação pública na ESMAE em formato de aula aberta.
- O cinema dos espaços fechados: padrões, temáticas e estilísticas da mise-en-scène em espaços de clausuraPublication . Álvaro, Pedro Crispim Santos; Dias, José Nuno de Abreu Tudela de AlmeidaEsta dissertação tem como objetivo perceber de que forma a delimitação espacial no cinema afeta a realização e, por conseguinte, a mise-en-scène de um filme. Para tal, esta investigação utilizará o filme Rope (1948), de Alfred Hitchcock como estudo de caso, tentando, no processo, cartografar padrões, temáticas e estilísticas encontradas neste tipo de ‘cinema dos espaços fechados’, que invariavelmente invoca um cinema intimista, psicológico e voyeurista.
- Análise do controlo Interno numa empresa de consultoria fiscalPublication . La Rosa, Nadimi Negrão; Mendes, Carlos Manuel AntunesCom as crescentes mudanças no cenário económico mundial, houve necessidade de uma transformação na forma em como os serviços passaram a ser oferecidos em qualquer ramo de negócio. Em consequência, emergiram diversos profissionais que se adaptaram com a finalidade de terem sucesso no novo mercado de trabalho, entre os quais se encontram os profissionais de consultoria, como é o caso da entidade acolhedora do estágio curricular. Quando foi constituída, tal como na maioria das pequenas e médias empresas, não houve uma preocupação por parte da empresa em desenvolver sofisticados controlos, visto que não apresentava volume de trabalho que os justificasse. Contudo, com a obtenção de novos clientes e admissão de novos colaboradores, surgiu a necessidade de implementar controlos de modo a uniformizar as operações e assim, aumentar a produtividade e eficiência da empresa. Além dessa padronização, um sistema de controlo é essencial a fim de assegurar um nível razoável de confiabilidade e integridade dos registos, relatórios e informações. O objetivo deste relatório consistiu em analisar os atuais controlos adotados pela entidade tendo em conta os riscos do negócio, identificar possíveis falhas e propor melhorias. São diversos os modelos de controlo aplicados nas diferentes estruturas organizacionais, sendo que foi utilizado a combinação do COSO e do CoCo no intuito de comparar com o sistema de controlo existente na entidade. Por meio de questionários, matriz de risco e processos e de situações acompanhadas no decorrer deste estágio, foi possível verificar algumas falhas nos procedimentos efetuados e, por essa razão, foram sugeridas medidas adequadas a fim de ser obtida uma maior eficiência e eficácia das operações.
- "Ali, onde não sou" - a busca do eu num tempo não vivido: a adesão afetiva do autor na construção mnésicaPublication . Couto, Ricardo Fernando Teixeira; Conceição, Marco Paulo Barbosa; Nogueira, PatríciaO cinema reflete a relação emocional entre ser humano e Tempo. Tal relação transcende a tangibilidade. Através do cinema, o autor pode interpelar um tempo não vivido mas ao qual emocionalmente adere. Esta dialéctica temporal revela um relacionamento de dimensão social e política, logo, de identidade. A conetividade entre esses dois tempos, o interpelado e o do momento a partir do qual é feita tal interpelação, inicia um diálogo, de mútua contaminação, entre memória individual e memória coletiva. A pessoalidade eleva-se à esfera social. Pode a afetividade pessoal contribuir para a percepção coletiva de um evento histórico? De que forma a imaginação autoral contribui para a a superação do vazio da existência? E qual a influência da memória coletiva no estabelecimento de uma representação interna de um determinado acontecimento? A relação do autor com as suas representações internas de um determinado evento histórico não vivido servem como ponto de partida para uma abordagem de reflexão ontológica sobre conceitos como a percepção emocional do Tempo e a tentativa de estabelecer uma participação afetiva, nomeadamente através da expressão cinematográfica.
