Abstract(s)
This dissertation intends to understand how spatial delimitation affects the mise-en-scène. Underpinning the relation between mise-en-scène and enclosed spaces, we use Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope (1948) as a case study, and also trying, in the process, mapping patterns, themes and stylistic approaches in this type of ‘cinema of enclosed spaces’, which invariably invoques a very intimate, psychological, voyeuristic kind of cinema.
