As Ceton (2000) states, the increasingly widespread use of computers only serves, as it is generally recognized, to highlight the fragmented way that building projects are commenced, designs created and realized, construction carried through to completion, and buildings maintained, renovated, and ultimately demolished. All too often lost information and miscommunication complicate these operations.

- Estratégias de internacionalização para a indústria têxtil e do vestuárioPublication . Santos, José de FreitasO artigo inicia-se com uma breve caracterização do sector têxtil e de vestuário (ITV), a que se segue a formulação das estratégias de internacionalização que se oferecem pertinentes para as empresas da indústria. Estas estratégias são apresentadas segundo o seu posicionamento na cadeia de valor: a montante do processo produtivo referem-se o sourcing e a antena colectiva; centrado no processo produtivo avança-se com a filial produtiva, a licença, a subcontratação e o comakership; a jusante adianta-se a filial comercial, a exportação, o show room permanente, o piggy back, a franquia, o consórcio de exportação, o grupo de exportadores e os clubes de empresas. O artigo finaliza com uma sistematização das estratégias de internacionalização, equacionando-se a probabilidade da sua aplicação às principais áreas de negócio da indústria (têxtil técnico e funcional, têxtil lar e vestuário).

The KNOW-CONSTRUCT project, as an approach to this task, decided to re-use, as far as possible, existing ontologies, classification systems and other semantic resources in order to develop a system for the integration, management and reuse of the area specific knowledge via a common knowledge base in order to consolidate and provide access to integrated knowledge, making community emergent knowledge a significant added value.

This situation gets worst when complex domains are considered, as it is the case of the Construction Industry domains. The development of ontologies to unify and to put into context the different concepts and terms of the sometimes rather traditional and locally coloured construction industry domains is a necessary step to avoid misinterpretations and inefficient communication. The KNOW-CONSTRUCT project decided, as an approach to this task, to re-use, as far as possible, existing ontologies, classification systems and other semantic resources in order to develop a system that may come to contribute to standards and to the integration, management and reuse of the area specific knowledge via a common knowledge base in order to consolidate and provide access to integrated knowledge, making community emergent knowledge a significant added value. It aims at developing a methodology of common Construction Industry Knowledge (CIK) representation applicable to large sets of SMEs in the construction industry as a basis for the establishment of a knowledge community.

Moreira Silva, Manuel; Almeida, PaulaO ensino tradicional tem vindo a ser, senão substituído, pelo menos complementado por metodologias assentes na inovação tecnológica. O desafio está no aproveitamento adequado de todas as ferramentas que advêm de sistemas de informação e comunicação como a Internet e programas informáticos dedicados a áreas de conhecimento específicas. Na área de línguas, incluindo as sub-áreas adjecentes, presenciamos uma adaptação gradual a este novo desafio, quer ao nível da adopção de recursos, quer no que concerne a formação de docentes e alunos. O Centro Multimédia de Línguas (CML), do Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração do Porto, constitui um exemplo de uma comunidade de aprendizagem concentrada em três questões basilares: 1) a partilha de conhecimento; 2) a interacção docentes-alunos; 3) a criatividade e a inovação científico-pedagógicas. Mais do que constituir um centro, torna-se claro que o CML caminha, passo a passo, para um ambiente de aprendizagem cada vez mais dinâmico, integrando as vertentes virtual e presencial, a ciência e a técnica, o saber e o saber fazer. Pretendemos dar conta dos objectivos fundamentais do Centro Multimédia de Línguas, através de uma incursão pelo seu funcionamento, pela sua estrutura física e humana e pelas actividades que desenvolve, para, assim, reflectir sobre os custos associados e tirar algumas conclusões sobre a viabilidade e o futuro desta comunidade de aprendizagem.

- Razões organizacionais para a expatriação: um estudo empírico em empresas portuguesasPublication . Martins, Dora; Rego, Arménio; Proença, TeresaEste estudo explora as razões que levam as empresas portuguesas a utilizar expatriados. Foram estudadas 8 empresas localizadas em Portugal. Destas empresas, 7 são sedes do grupo internacional e 1 empresa é filial de uma multinacional sedeada na Alemanha, envolvendo um total de 16 entrevistas a responsáveis organizacionais pela gestão de expatriados. Foi seguida uma metodologia de tipo qualitativo com recurso a entrevistas semi-estruturadas para recolha de informação e utilizada a análise de conteúdo temática para o tratamento dos dados. Os resultados sugerem que as razões que levam as empresas a expatriar colaboradores estão ligadas às necessidades do negócio, ao controlo das suas operações internacionais, à exportação da cultura da sede para as filiais, à representação institucional da sede nos países estrangeiros, ao desenvolvimento de competências individuais. Concluímos que as empresas localizadas em Portugal parecem desenvolver uma estratégia de Gestão Internacional de Recursos Humanos (GIRH) segundo uma abordagem etnocêntrica, característica de empresas em estádios recentes de internacionalização.
