A Literacia em Saúde (LS) tem vindo a conquistar a sua importância a nível mundial. No CrossFit®/CrossTraining, é importante que os atletas tenham níveis suficientes de LS para atuarem na prevenção de risco de lesão e nas competências de desempenho do atleta. Analisar a relação do nível da LS e a sintomatologia dolorosa em atletas de CrossFit®/CrossTraining na região norte do país. Estudo observacional analítico transversal, realizado numa amostra não probabilística por 427 atletas. A seleção e caracterização da amostra foi efetuada através de um questionário online para recolher dados acerca das características sociodemográficas e antropométricas, da modalidade, do nível de atividade física, do nível de literacia em saúde e da sintomatologia dolorosa. Nos testes de hipótese foi usado um nível de significância de 0,05. A maioria dos atletas praticam a modalidade há mais de 4 anos, são da categoria scaled, praticando 3 a 5 treinos semanais supervisionados com duração de 31-60 verificando-se uma relação estatisticamente significativa entre o nível de LS e a sintomatologia dolorosa. Os atletas com níveis mais altos de LS estão associados a menores episódios de sintomatologia dolorosa.
Health Literacy (HL) has been gaining worldwide importance. In CrossFit®/CrossTraining, it is important that athletes have sufficient HL levels to act in injury risk prevention and enhance performance skills. To analyze the relationship between HL level and pain symptomatology in CrossFit®/CrossTraining athletes in the northern region of the country. A cross-sectional observational analytical study, conducted with a non-probabilistic sample of 427 athletes. The sample was selected and characterized through an online questionnaire to collect data on sociodemographic and anthropometric characteristics, the sport, physical activity level, health literacy level, and pain symptomatology. A significance level of 0.05 was used for hypothesis testing. Most athletes have been practicing the sport for over 4 years, are in the Scaled category, train 3 to 5 times per week under supervision for 31-60 minutes, report no pain, and have a "Sufficient" HL level. A statistically significant relationship was found between HL level and pain symptomatology. Athletes with higher HL levels are associated with fewer episodes of painful symptomatology.
