Abstract(s)
This artistic project analyzes the role and reception of four female composers – Amy Beach, Florence Price, Lili Boulanger, and Germaine Tailleferre – in the context of post-Romantic aesthetics, with a particular focus on the violin repertoire. Starting from the transition from the 19th to the 20th century, marked by profound social, political, and cultural transformations, the research discusses the structural and symbolic barriers imposed on women in the field of classical music, traditionally dominated by androcentric criteria. The research combines historical, aesthetic, and critical analysis of the selected works, highlighting how these composers, despite legal, social, and cultural restrictions, managed to assert themselves artistically, introducing new languages and perspectives into the musical canon. The work proposes a reconfiguration of the narrative of post-Romantic music, fully and critically integrating female production, and culminates in the performative appreciation of their works through a final recital.
