Abstract(s)
Active ageing is about promoting healthier lifestyles and, consequently, better quality ageing. However, this quality of ageing has shortcomings in terms of digital literacy, which is the result of technological evolution and which a large part of the older population has not kept up with. The project “Capacid@de Digital” aims to empower the older population with digital skills. Therefore, the main objective of this thesis is to understand the impact it has on the active ageing of the population with less digital knowledge and how the acquisition of these digital skills contributes to active ageing. In order to determine this impact, surveys, interviews and focus groups were carried out with a sample of 20 participants, aged between 60 and 90, 14 female and 6 male, living in two parishes in Baião. Based on this study, we can consider that the empowerment activities enabled participants to acquire knowledge in the area of ICT. This contributes to more active ageing, on one hand by building relationships between the participants and, on the other, greater social and digital inclusion.
