Abstract(s)
This report presents the participatory action research project "Go forward, facing the challenges of life", with the purpose of counteracting the process of personal and social disqualification of a group of women beneficiaries of the provision of Social Integration Income, through of a group psychosocial intervention. Social Integration Income is a social benefit for families living in extreme poverty (ISS, I. P., 2017). One of the main reasons for its continuity is long-term unemployment. This has disastrous effects on various domains of people's lives, which are exposed to different and competing problems. As a consequence, there is a process of personal and social disqualification, marked by personal devaluation, closure in the domestic space and reduction of social participation, as well as by the tendency towards demotivation and accommodation, which culminate in the dependence of social benefits. The project, focusing on the difficulties of a group of women beneficiaries of Social Integration Income, allowed them to develop their self-esteem, expand their network of interpersonal relationships, as well as empower personal skills and interests for the development of knowledge through the use of strategies personal involvement. At the same time, promoting a more concerted and adjusted intervention, stimulated changes in the ways of looking and intervening in this reality, bringing new reflections on professional practices.
