Abstract(s)
This report encompasses the Pedagogical Practice at the Porto Music Conservatory and the Research Project, whose objective is to study the pedagogical approaches on the teaching voice technique to children and young adults. This project consists of a comparative study between the pedagogical practices observed at the voice lessons given to two different groups of students from the Porto Music Conservatory. These two groups are comprised of students of different ages, the first one including students between 12 and 14 years of age, and the second one including students between 15 and 23 years of age. From notes taken at the observed lessons, I concluded that there is no significant difference between the pedagogical approaches used in teaching singing to children and young adults. The techical work developed by both teachers is the same. More or less rigorously, the students of different ages learn voice placement, breath management and articulation. The use of metaphors and images i salso used as a learning tool to develop vocal technique, given that both teachers believe it to be the best way to approach some technical issues in order to get to the ideal sound faster.
