Abstract(s)

Coordination is a skill necessary in our daily activities, affecting the simpler task to the most complex. Although most neurological conditions impact this aptitude, the need for clinical tools to assess it has been highlighted in the literature. The “Comprehensive Coordination Scale (CCS)” was created for this purpose and has been validated in chronic stroke patients. To translate and culturally adapt the “Comprehensive Coordination Scale (CCS)” into European Portuguese. The translation and cultural adaptation process involves a systematic approach, that includes a preparatory stage, two translations of the source scale and its synthesis, two backtranslations, its reconciliation with a review by the original authors, an analysis with the Experts Committee and a final reading of the instrument. During the translations, the most appropriate terms were selected. Following the author’s commentary, certain discrepancies were corrected, while the analysis made by the Experts Committee modified the scale to make it more accessible to the target population. The CCS has been translated and adapted for Portugal. Through a rigorous methodologic process, it was possible to obtain equivalence and content validity between the Portuguese version and the original scale.
