Este trabalho teve como objetivo investigar a comunicação entre pais ouvintes e alunos surdos, tendo em vista a aprendizagem da Língua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras) e seu impacto no relacionamento entre estes, bem como as demais implicações envolvidas neste processo relativas ao desenvolvimento do indivíduo surdo. A pesquisa situou a educação de surdos em uma perspectiva de comunicação bilíngue entre pais ouvintes e alunos surdos, buscou compreender como é a comunicação dos pais com seus filhos, os impasses encontrados para a aprendizagem de Libras e as relações e situações que envolvem esse processo dialógico e teve como objetivo geral discutir os fatores condicionantes aos pais ouvintes de alunos surdos quanto ao aprendizado da Libras. O estudo foi conduzido na Escola Municipal Arlete Rosa Castanho, localizada no município de Cabo Frio (RJ), uma escola especial para surdos que acolhe alunos oriundos do próprio município e de cidades adjacentes. Foi adotada a abordagem qualitativa, na modalidade estudo de caso, no qual foram entrevistados 10 pais de alunos e a Diretora da Instituição. As entrevistas foram submetidas a análise de conteúdo e triangulação dos dados. Como resultado foi constatado que a aprendizagem de Libras não se efetiva entre estes pais, problema influenciado por fatores como falta de disponibilidade, dificuldades motoras, dificuldades compreensivas, desinteresse e falta de envolvimento dos pais com a comunidade surda.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the communication between hearing parents and deaf students, considering the learning of the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) and its impact on the relationship between them, as well as the other implications involved in this process, related to the development of the deaf individual. The research situated the education of deaf people in a bilingual communication perspective between hearing parents and deaf students, sought to understand how parents communicate with their children, the impasses found for the learning of Libras and the relationships and situations that involve this dialogical process and had as general objective to discuss the conditioning factors to hearing parents of deaf students regarding the learning of Libras. The study was conducted at Escola Municipal Arlete Rosa Castanho, located in the city of Cabo Frio (RJ), a special school for the deaf that admits students from the city itself and adjacent cities. The qualitative approach was adopted, in the case study modality, in which 10 parents of students and the Director of the Institution were interviewed. The interviews were submitted to content analysis and triangulation of the data. As a result, it was verified that the learning of Libras is not effective among these parents, a problem influenced by factors such as lack of availability, motor difficulties, comprehension difficulties, disinterest and lack of involvement of parents with the deaf community.
