Abstract(s)
Reading remains a fundamental component of cognitive and emotional development in childhood. However, in an increasingly digital culture, the traditional book faces challenges in maintaining its relevance and appeal. This practice-based project explores an alternative form of storytelling by combining visual narratives with Augmented Reality, with the goal of reimagining how children aged 5 to 8 interact with and interpret stories. Through a wordless picturebook, the project investigates how visual elements and multisensory features — such as animation, sound, and simple interaction — can invite young readers to construct meaning in an active and intuitive way. Designed to be inclusive and accessible, the experience accommodates different literacy levels and cultural backgrounds, extending access to literature beyond conventional formats. Rather than replacing the physical book, the integration of Augmented Reality seeks to extend its narrative potential, opening new paths for imagination, interpretation, and shared reading practices.
