Abstract(s)
recurso ao programa SPSS versão 26 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences).
This research focuses on the acceptance and adoption of mobile payment systems, in the city of Porto, in the tourism sector. It is a fact that new mobile payments are emerging every day, and their acceptance and adoption are still growing. The research methodology used was based on the application of a questionnaire survey to tourists/visitors, visiting the city of Port. In order to obtain information on which method of payment they use the most, during their travel, which characteristics they consider most important when adopting or using a payment method, whether it was important to apply these methods of payment in touristic establishments and if they are satisfied with the payment options that they already offer. The questionnaire, has 21 questions, was applied to a sample of 400 tourists/visitors on social networks and at the city of Porto. The analysis of the collected data was carried by the SPSS program, version 26 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). The sample results highlight that the individual profile influences the use of the payment systems; that there is a relationship between the quality of the system and the use of different types of payment methods; that age has no significant differences in the evaluation of the importance of ease of use, trust, privacy and security in mobile payments systems; the gender of the consumers has different results regarding the importance of competitive characteristics for the adoption and acceptance of payment systems; and that mobility, convenience and ease of use influence the use of different types of payment methods. Limitations and implications have arisen regarding the lack of information about this theme, as a recent topic; also, the data collection process was difficult, because it was intended to distribute questionnaires to a larger number of participants, but due to the pandemic situation, it was not possible.
