Abstract(s)
This dissertation took place at Continental-Indústria Têxtil do Ave, S.A. and its main objective was to improve the fabric drying process, which takes place in drying oven nº1 of the fabric impregnation machine, ZELL, and consequently to optimize the consumption of natural gas in this machine. In this way, a preliminary survey of the operating conditions of the drying oven was carried out, such as: operating temperature, ventilation and exhaustion percentage, for the products with the most representativeness in the company's production, two articles of Nylon and two of Polyester. Based on the values obtained, it was proposed to change the ventilation of drying oven nº1 in order to standardize the temperature inside the drying oven and thus promote an increase in the drying rate. In this way, it would be possible to reduce the exhaustion of the next drying oven, in order to reduce the consumption of natural gas and contribute to greater energy savings. The changes made allowed for annual savings of 4.2% for article N1 and 7.4% for article N2. For polyester articles, a saving of 12% was achieved for article P2. The possibility of preheating the fabric impregnation solution using the hot exhaust gases was also analysed. A natural gas saving of 2.5% was obtained. The proposal to install radiant panels inside the greenhouse 1 to promote the drying of the screen through radiation was only analysed from an energy alternative perspective
