Abstract(s)
Educação do Politécnico do Porto.
encontra no Museu.
identidade local, nacional, ajudando a compreender a história, as
comunidades e as suas especificidades culturais.
This report presents a description and analysis of the internship held at the Convento dos Lóios Museum in Santa Maria da Feira, integrated in the 3rd semester of the Master's Degree in Heritage, Arts and Cultural Tourism at the Polytechnic School of Porto. This work focused on the collection of information about the craft of the blacksmith of this county, within the scope of Intangible Cultural Heritage, and they complement the actual blacksmith craft’s ethnographic collection from Museu Convento dos Lóios. The Immaterial Cultural Heritage must be known to be safeguarded. Viable ways to retain it, such as studying, acknowledging and disseminating, allow the promotion of preserving customs, traditions, knowledge and expressions from the past. This heritage was frequently presented with importance in the past, but its future is vulnerable because of a weakened appreciation in the present. It is remarkable how museums place significance on preserving that identity which is tied to memory: by maintaining the link with older generations, local and national identities, which encourages a comprehension of history, its communities and their cultural specificities.
