Abstract(s)
The present project has the objective of designing two pedestrian bridges over the river Neiva, the Açude bridge and the Foz bridge. These bridges will allow the connection between the margins of São Paio de Antas and Castelo de Neiva through through two points that are inserted in a new pedestrian path, promoting the improvement of the riverside area of the covered areas. The adopted structural systems are a reinforced concrete arch bridge, Açude bridge, and a bridge with a solution, with a steel deck, suspended by steel cables from an arch of reinforced concrete, the Foz bridge. Firstly, all site conditions are referred to and defined, namely the surrounding topography, hydrological and geotechnical conditions and environmental and landscape framework. In a second phase, the design of the structures and their implementation is developed considering the geometric aspects that best fit. The European and national codes will be used as a structural calculation basis, particularly Eurocodes 1 and 8, as well as a comprehensive bibliography of structural guides for pedestrian bridges. The two bridges will be modeled in a finite element program, with static and dynamic analysis. After analysis of the efforts resulting from the combinations of the various limit states, all structural elements will be dimensioned. Eurocodes 2 and 3 will be followed for designing concrete and steel elements, respectively, ensuring that all aspects of safety verification are duly complied with.
