Abstract(s)
Concrete is a material of low ductility, presenting some decrease with the increase of tensions of rupture in compression. Nevertheless, due to its enormous versatility, is very used in the construction. When reinforced with fibers it is possible to overcome this fragility, guarantee a reduction of costs associated with the necessary labor, besides a possible reduction of the appearance of cracks and consequent openings in the concrete. With this internship, carried out in the company EUROMODAL, a series of activities were developed with the main goal of evaluating the mechanical behavior of the concrete when reinforced with fibers. In this way, a series of concrete and mortar productions were carried out in a laboratory environment and analyzed both in the fresh and hardened state. Therefore, this report describes all the procedures performed within its central theme, also focusing on the importance of each test performed, either for the most usual ones such as evaluation of the resistance to flexion and compression, passing through others not as common as modulus of elasticity, energy absorption capacity and CMOD – Crack Mouth Open Displacement. The equipment used, results obtained and conclusions drawn are also presented, always maintaining compliance with the Rules in force. By performing these destructive component tests, it is possible to evaluate and compare the mechanical strength of the concrete when reinforced with different types of fibers. It is intended that the addition of fibers will allow the reduction of the difference between the resistant capacities of the concrete and consequent improvement of results in other factors such as energy absorption capacity and tensile strength.
