Abstract(s)
Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná.
The present research intends to contribute to the improvement of the transition process of the students of higher education in Accounting and Administration, in Portugal and in Brazil, namely in the Superior Institute of Accounting and Administration of Porto and in the Technological Federal University of Paraná. The perception these students have concerning the present market work, in particular on what are the main difficulties for their insertion in the labor market, and which are the aspects in which the teaching institutions may help in that transition. The construction of the student’s profile (gender, age, if they have a job and in which area of his course he intends to work) was fundamental to better understand the main disparities between the students of the two institutions under analysis. The questioning of this investigation seeks to answer the following questions: which factors interfere in the transition of the students of accounting and administration to the job market? And how does the university address the issue of employability and address the curricula of accounting and administration courses? The bibliographical research and the quantitative analysis of the questionnaire applied to these students were the main methodologies followed to find an answer to the problem under study. In the course of the study it was noticed that the profile of the students is in the age group between 21 and 25 years, being the female gender dominant in ISCAP while in UTFPR a balance between genders is observed. In ISCAP, a population of 87% of students are unemployed while in UTFPR 56% already have a professional bond. The assertion that, in the students' view, makes more difficult the transition to the labor market is the lack of practical experience related to the profession and to remedy this difficulty students consider that the institution should establish partnerships with local companies for internships.
