Ces dernières années, les immenses progrès de l’intelligence artificielle ouvrent de nouvelles
perspectives en matière de traduction. Qu’en est-il pour la traduction juridique ? Les outils
actuels dédiés à la traduction automatique, assistée par ordinateur et neuronale, sont-ils
suffisamment efficaces pour traduire le droit ? Grâce à une approche juritraductologique, il
sera démontré que traduire le droit supranational, creuset de la traduction verticale, ne
présente pas les mêmes enjeux juridico-linguistiques que le droit interne, creuset de la
traduction horizontale. Par conséquent et au regard des outils proposés, la traduction
automatique neuronale oscille entre mythe et réalité.
In recent years, the immense progress made in artificial intelligence has opened up new perspectives in translation. But what about legal translation? Are current machine, computeraided and neural translation tools sufficiently effective for translating law? Using a legal studies approach, this paper shows that translating supranational law, the product of vertical translation, does not present the same legal-linguistic challenges as domestic law, characterized by horizontal translation. Therefore, and regarding the proposed tools, neural machine translation oscillates between myth and reality.
