Resumo(s)

The use of dietary supplements in Portugal is increasing; however, these products are not subject to intervention from the National Authority of Medicines and Health Products (INFARMED), and can reach the market without proper information, as well as without adequate quality and safety. Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) has hepatoprotective and antioxidant activity and is commonly used in herbal dietary supplements for liver diseases.
