Abstract(s)
A conjugação da fábula com a tradução torna-se muito pertinente para a compreensão dos seus limites e fronteiras em relação com a adaptação, a recriação e a transmutação. Trata-se de um género literário bastante flexível que, neste âmbito, é utilizado com o propósito de ilustrar as dificuldades que apresentam as suas variadas manifestações e de que forma podem, ou não, constituir tradução.
A presente dissertação irá seguir esta linha de raciocínio recorrendo a uma abordagem diacrónica breve da fábula, com particular foco n“A Cigarra e a Formiga”, por ser uma das fábulas mais populares, culminando com a análise comparativa das versões de Félix María Samaniego, de Miguel Torga e de Arturo Pérez-Reverte. Para além disso, dá-se também destaque às diversas manifestações da fábula de Esopo que passam pelo cinema, pela música, e pelas artes plásticas, entre outros.
The combination of fable and translation becomes very relevant to understand the limits and boundaries of the former, in contrast with the notions of adaptation, recreation and transmutation. Within this context, this flexible literary genre turns out to be instrumental to illustrate the difficulties posed by its multiple manifestations, as well as the way in which these can, or cannot, be instances of translation. The present dissertation follows this line of reasoning through a brief diachronic approach of the fable, with particular focus on "The Grasshopper and The Ants" — one of the most popular fables —, followed by a comparative analysis of the versions of Félix María Samaniego, Miguel Torga and Arturo Pérez-Reverte. In addition, it discusses the different configurations of Aesop’s fable, including media as diverse as the cinema, music and the plastic arts, among others.
