O texto retrata o percurso metodológico de uma investigação no âmbito científico da Ciência da Informação, com a aplicação do método quadripolar. Explica-se como este dispositivo de investigação proporcionou o conhecimento multidimensional do objeto de estudo. São abordadas em detalhe as componentes envolvidas nos quatro pólos desta metodologia: o epistemológico, o teórico, o técnico e o morfológico. Evidenciam-se as relações dinâmicas entre os quatro pólos, com o pólo epistemológico a enquadrar os referenciais teóricos, que influenciam o contacto com a realidade operado no pólo técnico, o qual determina os resultados do pólo morfológico.
The text depicts the methodological approach of a scientific investigation grounded within Information Science, with the application of the quadripolar method. It explains how quadripolar method provides the multidimensional knowledge of the study object. Components involved in the four poles of this methodology (epistemological, theoretical, technical and morphological) are addressed in detail. The dynamic relationships between the four poles are explained, as epistemological pole frames the theoretical pole that influences the contact with reality operated in the technical pole, which determines the results of morphological pole.
