O presente relatório analisa o trabalho desenvolvido enquanto estagiária na
empresa Word Perfect Translations Ltd. para a obtenção do Grau de Mestre em Tradução
e Interpretação Especializadas pelo Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração
do Porto. Com a duração de seis meses, o estágio curricular decorreu entre fevereiro e
julho de dois mil e vinte e dois e realizou-se na sede da empresa em Dublin, República
da Irlanda, sob a alçada do programa Erasmus+.
A decisão de estagiar num contexto internacional permitiu que tivesse um
contacto direto com uma das minhas línguas de trabalho, num país cuja língua nativa e
oficial é o inglês, e abriu portas para a exploração do mercado de trabalho de tradução e
de interpretação na República da Irlanda. A inserção, enquanto estagiária, numa empresa
de tradução e de interpretação provou ser uma mais-valia para o meu desenvolvimento
profissional e pessoal, para a aquisição de competências essenciais, e para a partilha de
conhecimentos num espaço de trabalho multicultural.
Através de uma comparação entre a teoria e a prática, reflito sobre as experiências
decorridas ao longo do estágio, contextualizando-as com base nos conhecimentos
adquiridos durante o meu percurso académico. As tarefas realizadas passaram pela
tradução e revisão de documentação oficial, e pela interpretação em contexto médico.
In this report, I will analyse the work carried out as an intern at Word Perfect Translations Ltd., in order to obtain the Master's Degree in Specialised Translation and Interpretation from the Porto Accounting and Business School (ISCAP). With a duration of six months, the internship ran from February to July of two thousand and twenty-two and took place in the company's head offices in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, being financed by the Erasmus+ programme. The decision to do an internship in an international setting allowed me to have direct contact with one of my working languages, in a country whose native and official language is English, and opened up the possibility of delving into the Translation and Interpreting labour market in Ireland. Being part of a translation and interpreting company as an intern proved to be an asset for my professional and personal development, the acquisition of key skills and the exchange of knowledge in a multicultural workplace. By comparing theory and practice, I will reflect on the experiences that happened during the internship, contextualizing them based on the knowledge acquired during my studies. The tasks performed included the translation and proofreading of official documents, and interpreting in a medical setting.
