Esta investigação procura analisar os percursos das iniciativas de inovação e empreendedorismo social (IIES), após o financiamento dos programas da iniciativa, Portugal Inovação Social. A partir da questão inicial: O que acontece a estas iniciativas após o término dos programas de apoio financeiro? O estudo investiga os percursos dessas iniciativas, identificando os desafios e os fatores que influenciaram a sua trajetória depois do financiamento. Tendo em conta as unidades de análise as (IIES) cofinanciadas pelo município de Vila Nova de Gaia, faz-se uso de uma metodologia qualitativa, através de entrevistas em profundidade aos responsáveis pelo desenvolvimento dos projetos.
Esta investigação contribui para uma compreensão profunda dos mecanismos de financiamento e sustentabilidade da inovação social em Gaia, oferecendo recomendações para empreendedores sociais, investidores e formuladores de políticas públicas.
A análise de conteúdo às 16 entrevistas realizadas indica que os instrumentos financeiros apesar de serem um impulso para o lançamento inicial dos projetos de inovação social são algumas vezes insuficientes para garantir a sua continuidade.
Apesar da maioria das IIES terem alcançado sucesso. A transição para a sustentabilidade é um desafio significativo que os projetos enfrentam, após o financiamento. Evidenciando-se dificuldades na capacidade de diversificação das fontes de rendimento e na capacidade de determinação e comunicação do impacto social alcançado. Além disso, o estudo evidencia a importância das parcerias intersectoriais para a sustentabilidade das iniciativas após o término do programa de financiamento, onde se destaca o papel complementar que diferentes tipos de investidores são capazes de desempenhar. As conclusões apontam para a necessidade de desenvolver instrumentos de apoio mais flexíveis e de longo prazo.
This research seeks to analyze the paths of innovation and social entrepreneurship initiatives (IIES), after financing the initiative's programs, Portugal Social Innovation. Starting from the initial question: What happens to these initiatives after the financial support programs end? The study investigates the paths of these initiatives, identifying the challenges and factors that influenced their trajectory after financing. Taking into account the analysis units (IIES) co-financed by the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, a qualitative methodology is used, through in-depth interviews with those responsible for developing the projects. This research contributes to a deep understanding of the financing and sustainability mechanisms of social innovation in Gaia, offering recommendations for social entrepreneurs, investors and public policy makers. The content analysis of the 16 interviews carried out indicates that financial instruments, despite being an impetus for the initial launch of social innovation projects, are sometimes insufficient to guarantee their continuity. Although most IIES have achieved success. The transition to sustainability is a significant challenge that projects face once they are financed. Highlighting difficulties in the ability to diversify income sources and in the ability to determine and communicate the social impact achieved. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of intersectoral partnerships for the sustainability of initiatives after the end of the financing program, highlighting the complementary role that different types of investors are capable of playing.
