Abstract(s)
With the theme “Information Science, Museology and the Accessibility of Collections in the Vila Nova de Famalicão Museum Network”, the developed project presents the opportunity to understand the relationship between Information Science and Museology, considering Museums and Heritage Cultural, as well as accessibility to museum collections in the Vila Nova de Famalicão Museum Network (RMVNF). The following research questions are assumed: “How is information/documentation managed in the RMVNF and how is it presented to the public?”; “How did the RMVNF deal with the pandemic derived from the SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) and how did it relate to the public during this period?”. The objectives identified were: To identify the software that is used in the museums of the Vila Nova de Famalicão Museum Network and the respective tools for accessing the collection; Know what the information channels are and how they are used to communicate your collection to the public; Identify which information and technology policies are in force on the network and the guidelines on accessibility and dissemination of collections; Identify which strategies were used for the continuity of promotion, accessibility and security of its collections. The methodology fits into an applied and mixed approach, which resorts to a literature review and the use of questionnaires and interviews. The investigation put into practice consists of an exploratory-descriptive investigation. After completing the analysis and deepening of the theme, it was allowed to understand that most of the museological units that make up the RMVNF use InPatrimonium as software. It was also concluded that museums in the pandemic period adopted measures that, with the end of the pandemic, were abandoned by some of them. Museums that maintained the innovations forced by the pandemic period are currently able to continue to take advantage of them.
