Abstract(s)
Esta Dissertação em Património, Artes e Turismo Cultural, visa analisar o Quartel de Santo Ovídio no século XIX, inserido num conjunto de edifícios de defesa militar da cidade do Porto.
Aborda as diferentes dimensões do Tempo, do Espaço e do Uso, relacionando as questões temporais de cronologia, desde as razões para a sua construção em 1790, até à Implantação da República Portuguesa em 1910.
Aporta as questões relacionadas com a conceção do Espaço, seu dimensionamento, articulação e ocupação, com as questões de Uso e funcionalidade, interior e exterior, relacionando-o com as Unidades Militares aquarteladas e suas movimentações.
Por último, refere-se à Imagem com que o Quartel de Santo Ovídio é visto pela cidade e a Imagem com que a população nele se projeta, numa continuada troca e partilha de Uso no Tempo e no Espaço.
É, por isso, um edifício militar vivo em constante mutação e articulação com a cidade do Porto e a sua população.

This Dissertation in Heritage, Arts and Cultural Tourism, analyse’s Santo Ovídio Barracks in the 19th century, inserted in a set of military defense buildings in OPorto. It’s important to mention the different dimensions of Time, Space and Usage, relating the temporal issues of chronology, from the reasons for its construction in 1790, to the Implantation of the Portuguese Republic in 1910. It contributes to the issues related to the design of the Space, presente on dimension articulation and occupation, with the issues of Use and functionality, interior and exterior, related to the Military Units and their movements. Finally, it refers to the Image with which the Santo Ovídio Barracks is seen by the city and the Image which the population has of itself, in a continuous exchange and sharing of Use in Time and Space. Therefore, a military building in a constant mutation and articulation of OPorto and its population. It’s also builds Memory and Culture today.
