The pandemic affected face-to-face communication and inperson socialization. We present the students' opinions about the challenge they faced when participating in the LIGHTS project during the Covid-19 pandemic.

O.; Figueiredo, Isabel; Costa, Alexandra R.Technology plays an important role in everyday life and can be used in education. Video is a source of material that can play an important role in the teaching and learning field. Using videos engages students, aids student retention of knowledge, motivates interest in the subject matter, and illustrates the relevance of many concepts. In this chapter, the authors describe two teaching experiences involving videos, where the students made a video about solving a concrete mathematical problem. In this video, the students should explain the problem resolution to their colleagues (playing the role of teacher). The results of the impact of this kind of project in the students' motivation are also presented.

Contudo, existe ainda um longo caminho a percorrer ao nível das políticas, da administração, das comuni-dades, dos professores, da formação inicial e contínua, das práticas pedagógico-artísticas e dos recursos existentes.

Students do not learn much by just sitting in class listening their teachers, memorizing pre-packaged assignments and spitting out answers. The teaching-learning process has been a constant target of studies, particularly in Higher Education, in consequence of the annual increase of new students. The concern with maintaining a desired quality level in the training of these students, conjugated with the will to widen the access to all of those who finish Secondary School Education, has triggered a greater intervention from the education specialists, in partnership with the teachers of all Higher Education areas, in the analysis of this problem. Considering the particular case of Engineering, it has been witnessed a rising concern with the active learning strategies and forms of assessment. Research has demonstrated that students learn more if they are actively engaged with the material they are studying. In this presentation we describe, present and discuss the techniques and the results of Peer Instruction method in an introductory Calculus courses of an Engineering Bach
- The Effect of a Linear Tuning between the Antigenic Stimulations of CD4+ T Cells and CD4+ TregsPublication . Yusuf, Aliyu; Figueiredo, Isabel; Afsar, Atefeh; Burroughs, Nigel; Pinto, Alberto; Oliveira, BrunoWe study the equilibria of an Ordinary Differencial Equation (ODE) system where CD4 + effector or helper T cells and Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are present. T cells trigger an immune response in the presence of their specific antigen. Regulatory T cells (Tregs) play a role in limiting auto-immune diseases due to their immune-suppressive ability. Here, we present explicit exact formulas that give the relationship between the concentration of T cells, the concentration of Tregs, and the antigenic stimulation of T cells, when the system is at equilibria, stable or unstable. We found a parameter region of bistability, limited by two thresholds of antigenic stimulation of T cells (hysteresis). Moreover, there are values of the slope parameter of the tuning for which an isola-center bifurcation appears, and, for some other values, there is a transcritical bifurcation. We also present time evolutions of the ODE system.

The use of technology, in the learning process, is a breath of fresh air inside and outside the classroom Videos is a source of material that can play an important role in the students ‘motivation. In this work, we described an initiative where the videos play an important role in the teaching and learning field. , we analyse the student academic success when they experience this kind of project. In this work, we study student results in an academic year where no videos were produced and in an academic year where videos were produced, and we make a comparative study.
