Abstract(s)
The present report aims to report the activities and functions performed as well as relevant issues to be addressed during the self-proposed curricular internship, carried out at the language services company AP | Portugal, during the 2nd semester of the 2nd year of the Specialized Translation and Interpreting Master's Degree. I believe that, in the midst of the 21st century, the curricular internship, although unpaid, may contribute to the integration of the professional translator in the job market, as well as training professional translators with a high degree of competence and specialisation. Issues such as employability, labour relations, mastery of translation tools (CAT Tools), text typologies, technical writing (ISO standards) are addressed in the report. I seek that it will also serve as a guide and a source of knowledge for all professionals and students who whish to improve their own working a research methodologies in the field of language services and translation studies. The present report is structured as follows: to begin with, I present, describe and contextualise my choice of curricular intership at the host company, AP | Portugal - Tech Language Solutions. The second chapter is dedicated to the description of the activities I carried out, the functions I performed, and the processes in which I intervened, related to translation, localization, pre-editing and post-editing, proofreading, rereading, transcription and event management. This chapter also presents the volume of work carried out in terms of quantitative data, some examples of projects carried out and translation issues raised during their realization, and a reflection on the importance of the revision and feedback obtained. In the third chapter, within the scope of the literature review, an analysis is made of some data present in ELIS 2022 - European Language Industry Survey 2022 combined with the authors' views, and how they relate to the European Master's in Translation - Competence Framework 2017. Finally, I will make final and personal considerations and self-reflect on my journey, my performance and the knowledge acquired throughout this experience. I will also reflect on the goals I set myself before the beginning of the internship.
