This paper provides an overview of how national and international companies manage terminologies and specific languages in a multilingual communication environment, always mediated by translation. Based on several studies carried out by us between 2010 and 2014, but particularly in an experimental study, we describe how some companies, operating on an international scale, manage multilingual communication. Our research focuses on the practice of corporate non-professional translation and discusses the status quo of terminology management at business settings. Both quantitative and qualitative methods were used in this investigation, and a descriptive approach was chosen, with the aim to refuse the simple idea of corporate translation malpractice and avoid a biased analysis.pt_PT
