A presente dissertação tem como objetivo explorar o conceito de intertextualidade na música do período Romântico com base numa análise de obras de Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt e Sergei Rachmaninoff. Estas análises aliar-se-ão aos conceitos de J. Peter Burkholder, musicólogo que procurou definir as várias formas de intertextualidade em música. Entre as várias que explorou, a prática do arranjo (transcrição) e do empréstimo musical são as que terão mais destaque nesta dissertação. A investigação pretende também evidenciar a comunicação e diálogo que existe entre as várias épocas da História da Música, mostrando que nada é criado de forma isolada.
The present dissertation aims to explore the concept of intertextuality in music from the Romantic period. The work will be supported on an analysis of works by Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt and Sergei Rachmaninoff. They will be combined with the concepts of J. Peter Burkholder, a musicologist who sought to define the various forms of intertextuality in music. Among the many types he explored, the practice of arranging (transcription) and musical borrowing are those that will be most prominent in this dissertation. The investigation also aims to highlight the communication and dialogue that exists between the various eras of Music History, showing that nothing is created in isolation.
