Este relatório de estágio foi elaborado no âmbito do Mestrado em Artes Cénicas - Área de Especialização em Figurino, a partir do trabalho realizado no estágio curricular no Departamento de Guarda-Roupa e Adereços do Teatro Nacional de São João, durante o qual foram acompanhados os processos de construção e manutenção dos figurinos do espetáculo Branca de Neve & Outros Dramalhetes.
Esta experiência prática em ambiente profissional, complementada com a análise de referências literárias e de entrevistas realizadas, foi a base para a reflexão desenvolvida neste relatório que propõe responder à questão: será o papel do executante, neste caso da costureira teatral, meramente técnico, ou poderá esse cargo conter um potencial criativo na conceção dos figurinos?
Para além de questionar a tradicional fronteira entre criação e execução, este estudo teve ainda como objetivo desocultar esse trabalho, por vezes, invisível, de forma a contribuir para a sua valorização e para o reconhecimento da importância das profissões de bastidores nas artes performativas. Essa valorização facilita a transmissão do saber-fazer da costura teatral a futuras gerações de profissionais, preservando esta profissão essencial para a criação de figurinos.
A par da pesquisa, o contacto direto com o trabalho desenvolvido pela equipa do Departamento permitiu adquirir e consolidar conhecimentos relativos à execução e confeção de figurinos e enaltecer a importância do afeto e da dimensão humana no meio teatral.
This internship report was prepared as part of the Mestrado em Artes Cénicas - Área de Especialização em Figurino, based on the work carried out during the curricular internship at the Costume and Props Department of the Teatro Nacional de São João, during the processes of construction and maintenance of costumes for the production Branca de Neve & Outros Dramalhetes. This practical experience in a professional setting, supplemented by an analysis of literary references and interviews, formed the basis for the reflection presented in this report, which addresses the following question: is the role of the executant - in this case, the theatrical seamstress - merely technical or does this position hold creative potential in the conception of costumes? In addition to questioning the traditional boundary between creation and execution, this study also aimed to bring this ofteninvisible work to light, thereby contributing to its appreciation and to the recognition of the importance of backstage professions in the performing arts. This appreciation facilitates the transmission of theatrical sewing know-how to future generations of professionals, preserving this profession that is essential to the creation of costumes. In addition to the reflection, direct contact with the work carried out by the Department’s team allowed to acquire and consolidate knowledge regarding the creation and confection of costumes and to highlight the importance of affection and the human dimension in the theatre universe.
