Abstract(s)
This study investigates the use of building information modelling methodology for acoustic performance analysis of built environments in the design phase. Through an extensive literature review, it was possible to obtain an overview of the state of the art and identify the need for interoperability of solutions as a research gap, particularly regarding tools embedded in modelling software. REVIT was selected as a relevant alternative to be implemented in classrooms chosen based on prior data collection documented in the work of HUPALO (2017), which this research continues and contributes to by proposing a computational tool. Reverberation time was chosen as a parameter; based on Sabine’s equation and a database found in the literature (after comparative research and selection of the most comprehensive dataset), a model was developed in Dynamo whose results, after testing, satisfactorily represented the reverberation time of two rooms, chosen for being almost symmetrical. It was concluded that the methodology is a valid resource to aid in decision-making in the design process, with an impact on classroom projects and similar environments within the research boundaries, and it was possible to point out future developments to further expand the study.
