Abstract(s)
One of the problems that still exists today is the accessibility to public buildings by people with reduced mobility, whether they are people with disabilities or the elderly. Accessibility is fundamental in people's lives, as it is fundamental for the exercise of the rights that are conferred on any member of a democratic society. The objective of this work is to study and evaluate the accessibility of public buildings through the perception of people with reduced mobility. According to Decree-Law No. 163/2006, of August 8, it is the State that must develop actions with the purpose of guaranteeing and ensuring the rights of people with special needs. A literature review was carried out based on platforms using data collection and analysis and bibliographic research as a methodology, using a quantitative approach for the analysis of the questionnaire. Through it, it was realized that most of the respondents do not know the legislation in force on the subject, and through the analysis of Clusters, it was concluded that it is possible to divide the sample into 2 clusters and that there are differences between them. Thus, Portugal has developed a set of policies in order to build a more inclusive society, having as initiatives the Action Plan for the Integration of People with Disabilities or Disabilities. Legislative support is significant and broad, however the investments made to adapt public spaces to all realities do not strictly comply with their functionality. Knowing how to invest in accessibility is to stimulate social inclusion.
