Abstract(s)
This report represents the work accomplished in the Supervised Teaching Practice and reflects the learnings acquired within the Master’s in Music Teaching at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo, part of Instituto Politécnico do Porto. It is divided into three chapters. The first chapter includes the characterization of the institution where I attended my internship, named Academia de Música de Costa Cabral. The second chapter describes the experiences and challenges found on the Supervised Teaching Practice. The third and last chapter contains the Intervention Project in which the goal is to raise the student’s awareness about the vocal tract on saxophone playing. Six participants were put to test in a field experiment, where the main goal was to improve aspects related to the vocal tract through the execution of three exercises. At the end of each exercise the students were evaluated by two saxophone teachers by the following criteria: intonation quality, air flow control, level of comprehension and adequacy of the exercise.
