Job satisfaction influences the quality of healthcare provided, particularly by occupational therapists. In Portugal, following the reorganization of mental health services in 2021, Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) were created. No studies were identified in the literature that examine job satisfaction and well-being among occupational therapists working in these teams. To analyze the job satisfaction and well-being of occupational therapists in the ECSM of the Local Mental Health Services (LMHS) in Portugal. Methods: A mixed study was conducted, using quantitative methodology, with an analytical observational study using the following instruments: Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS) and Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale (WEMWBS), and qualitative methodology, through an exploratory study using focus groups. The sample included twenty-eight participants, recruited non-probabilistically for convenience. The JSS results showed an intermediate level of job satisfaction. Pay, promotion, and benefits were the dimensions with the lowest level of satisfaction. The highest were supervision, nature of work, and coworkers. The WEMWBS revealed a moderate level of well-being. The correlation between the nature of work domain and well-being was statistically significantly positive. The qualitative data revealed a notable heterogeneity in therapists' satisfaction across different Local Health Units, particularly in terms of professional recognition. The need for training due to the perceived lack knowledge about the functional content of the profession among colleagues and shortage of resources and suitable facilities for intervention are unanimously referred to as barriers to professional practice. Participants reported moderate levels of job satisfaction and well-being. However, the difficulties described in the focus groups, such as the lack of resources, professional recognition and valuing, as well as the need for specialized training, may compromise the quality and effectiveness of teams in general.
