Abstract(s)
The work presented is a partial requirement to obtain a Master's Degree in Music Teaching. The first chapter consists of the presentation of the Oporto Conservatory of Music and its educational offer, where I performed the Supervised Teaching Practice component. The second chapter consists of the observation, planning and reflection of this same practice. In the third and final chapter I present my research project "The influence of Mental Training on Percussion Pedagogy”. According to Magill (1998), the concept of Mental Training, "seeks to influence the thoughts and mental representations of people, with the aim of improving some specific action, in regard to motor and psychomotor learning". According to this author, "Mental Training can enhance the responses to a task without the pressure that accompanies motor performance, as well as being very beneficial in consolidating strategies and correcting errors in the final stages of learning." Through the action-research methodology, a qualitative and quantitative study was carried out, analyzing data from a survey of primary and high school students. The results of the research demonstrate that the proposed task was able to demonstrate the relevance of the concept of "Mental Training" applied to the teaching of Percussion.
