Abstract(s)
The catalyzing social, political and economic dynamics of change transform cities into places over time leaving marks that can be discovered from heritage. Many of these heritage elements constitute sources of historical evidence, telling, from a visual and symbolic narrative, the history of the places and making known their actors. To discover this heritage is to unveil the city from other times and other people, perpetuating the collective memory and strengthening the identity and sense of belonging, thus contributing to its preservation and safeguarding. In this sense, this master's project addresses the liberalism of the early nineteenth century in the city of Porto, proposing a pedagogical roadmap for childhood where knowledge of Local History is constituted from the discovery of the heritage present in the city. The aim of this project is to promote active knowledge-building strategies based on challenging and meaningful tasks, leading children to know and reflect on the role of early 19th century Porto society in the Implementation of the Constitutional Monarchy and the political and social transformations of the time.
