Começando por contemplar imagens do presente, olhar-se-á a História, ao arrepio, numa tentativa de identificar ecos de outras rejeições do binarismo de género no vestuário ao longo dos tempos, no âmbito europeu.
Partindo de leituras sobre a performatividade de género, pretende-se questionar as narrativas convencionais sobre os ideais de masculinidade e feminilidade, concretamente no que toca ao vestuário.
A partir da observação de diferentes usos do vestuário, quer enquanto figurino de cena, quer no dia-a-dia, logo que assumido como um figurino, pretende-se reflectir sobre a atribuição de género no âmbito do vestuário e a actual, consequente, utilização deste como ferramenta na expressão de género, seja pela adesão, subversão ou negação desse sistema.
Starting with images of the present, we will look at history backwards in an attempt to identify echoes of other rejections of gender binarism in clothing throughout the ages in Europe. Based on a reading of gender performativity, the aim is to question conventional narratives about the ideals of masculinity and femininity, specifically regarding clothing. Based on the observation of different uses of clothing, both as stage costumes and in everyday life, as soon as it is assumed to be a costume, the aim is to reflect on the attribution of gender in the context of clothing and its current use as a tool for gender expression, whether through adherence, subversion, or denial of this system.
