Abstract(s)
permanência no destino.
Rural Tourism has been growing in Portugal, associated with the pandemic context and new market trends such as the search for distinct and authentic experiences of well-being and health, associated with the dimensions of sustainability. Tourist enterprises and companies must follow these trends, modernizing, but maintaining the distinctive features of rural authenticity. They must, at the same time, take advantage of and value the resources and potential of the territories, in a sustainable way and promoting integrated regional development. By carrying out a curricular internship at Quinta do Barracao da Vilariça, in the Terra Quente Transmontana region, completed by a brief exploratory and situational study on this agritourism, the aim was to: i) make an assessment of the current state of Quinta do Barracao da Vilariça and its potential, in order to contribute to the revitalization of this tourist product; ii) promote integrated regional development and the enhancement of the region from Quinta do Barracão da Vilariça, namely through a proposal for activities complementary to accommodation. The data collected through a questionnaire survey, in a markedly quantitative approach, demonstrate that Quinta do Barracao da Vilariça is a quality agritourism, located in a region with high tourist potential. This tourist enterprise must continue to focus on welcoming its guests, implementing its environmental sustainability policy, and promoting local and regional products. To improve and maximize the experience of its visitors, it is proposed to implement some measures, namely: technological modernization, adaptation of spaces, deepening of networking, the revitalization of complementary activities already provided and the implementation of new services. Complementary services effectively allow the maximization of the experience through the development of stimulating activities in sensory, aesthetic, intellectual and social terms. Furthermore, they serve as a strategy to make accommodation and territories more attractive, ensuring greater permanence at the destination.
