Abstract(s)
This report was written as part of the Supervised Teaching Practice course of the Master in Teaching Music Education in the Basic School, Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico do Porto. The first chapter will present the contexts and practices observed in the second cycle of basic education, in the context of the Supervised Teaching Practice. The second chapter will include an exposition of the context and the class where the Pedagogical Internship took place, as well as a reasoned reflection on it. The third chapter presents the research project, which aimed to understand the importance of the universe of adolescents' musical listening "outside" school and to know the students' musical preferences, since the students' cultural/musical background must be considered when preparing the musical repertoire for music classes. In this research, 220 adolescents from the second cycle of basic education, aged between 9 and 13 years old participated. We present a methodological design through a cross-sectional study, using two instruments: a questionnaire survey and the Short Test Of Musical Preference Revised (STOMPR). The results confirm the influence of music in everyday life "outside" school, and relative to the five-dimensional model of musical preferences, the adolescents under study fall within the contemporary dimension. To conclude, the final considerations some on the importance of the internship and the appreciations of the study carried out, important in the professional growth as a teacher, are presented.
