Abstract(s)
Neste sentido, as
do negĂłcio.
In the current context, due to the significant transformations in the labour market and the higher demand for a diversity of skills, several professions have undergone changes in their paradigms, and Human Resources Management (HRM) is no exception. In this sense, the skills have been considered a key to success for HRM professionals to enter the labour market and continuously maintain their attractiveness in the face of a demand for increasingly qualified and versatile professionals. The main objective of this investigation is to know the perception of HRM professionals, regarding the desirable skills in the digital age, in order to face the challenges that the technological context presents them. In this study, a qualitative methodology was used, relying on the semi-structured interview to collect data. Fifteen interviews were conducted to HRM professionals on their current perception of the Human Resources Function (HRF) and the skills considered essential in the digital context. Yet the data were analysed according to the principles of Grounded Theory. The results of the investigation suggest that the HRF has been evolving towards a greater appreciation by the companies, due to its more strategic and decision-supporting aspects of the business. HRM professionals should anticipate the challenges that will arise, namely talent retention, labour shortages and generational diversity, along with future trends such as virtual reality and focus on the human factor. It can also be concluded that, despite an increasingly strategic vision, the role of HRM professionals is still very limited to operational issues. Although this process is slow and gradual, Human Resources Managers are managing to position themselves to achieve even more success and recognition. Finally, the main implications and some limitations of the study are discussed, as well as suggestions for future research.
