No contexto cultural contemporâneo, as artes performativas e o cinema documental
desempenham papéis significativos na expressão artística e na reflexão sobre a sociedade e a
cultura.
Este ensaio estabelece uma comparação entre as artes performativas relacionadas
com a música e o cinema documental. Através de uma reflexão sobre a performance e a figura
do artista no contexto social e cultural, pretende-se fazer um contraste entre as perspetivas
do realizador e do próprio artista, quanto à conceção e abordagem estética de um projeto
documental. A importância de retratar e respeitar a obra de terceiros através do nosso olhar
como cineasta.
A segunda parte está relacionada com a análise de filmes e artistas de música
portugueses associados a esta temática, através de movimentos e práticas artísticas. São
apresentados depoimentos no decorrer das entrevistas realizadas a alguns músicos de rua.
O ensaio adquire também uma parte dedicada à análise e descrição de todo o
processo de realização da curta-metragem documental Música ao Virar da Esquina (2023),
onde alguns músicos demonstram o seu talento e falam sobre o seu ponto de vista em relação
a esta prática cultural da cidade do Porto. O projeto Sweetspot Sessions, criado pela artista
Talita Cayolla, estabelece uma ligação com os artistas de rua, como uma prática que contribui
para a comunidade de músicos de rua portuenses.
In the contemporary cultural context, the performing arts and documentary cinema play significant roles in artistic expression and reflection on society and culture. This essay draws a comparison between the performing arts related to music and documentary filmmaking. Through a reflection on the performance and the figure of the artist in the social and cultural context, it is intended to make a contrast between the perspectives of the director and the artist himself, regarding the conception and aesthetic approach of a documentary project. The importance of portraying and respecting the work of others through our eyes as a filmmaker. The second part is related to the analysis of portuguese films and music artists associated with this theme, through artistic movements and practices. Testimonies are presented during the interviews conducted with some street musicians. The essay also acquires a part dedicated to the analysis and description of the entire process of making the documentary short film Música ao Virar da Esquina (2023), where some musicians demonstrate their talent and talk about their point of view in relation to this cultural practice of the city of Porto.
