O presente ensaio pretende refletir sobre profundidade de campo
cinematográfica, como elemento caraterizador da personagem e do conflito.
No desenvolvimento teórico procura-se destacar as diferentes definições de
profundidade de campo, como forma de identificar os componentes que a condicionam.
Nomeadamente, a relação do trabalho de câmara com a direção de arte e a iluminação,
que resultam na possibilidade de criar uma imagem tridimensional e auxiliam a
caracterização da personagem.
A segunda parte deste trabalho, contempla análise e contextualização da curtametragem de ficção, O Abafador, na perspetiva da direção de fotografia, incidindo na
relação personagem-profundidade de campo do filme.
The present essay intends to reflect on the cinematography’s depth of field as a complement and describing element of both the characters and the plot. The theoretical development seeks to highlight the different definitions of depth of field and point out which components might condition it. In particular, the relation between camera work and lighting along with art direction, which can create a tridimensional image as well as support the character characterization. The second part of this essay contemplates the analysis and context of the short film, O Abafador, on a director of photography’s perspective, mainly focusing on the relation between the character and the depth of field of the film.
